Here are the instructions on how to install Keymap Editor:

  • Launch Kodi
  • Click Add-ons
  • Click the Add-on browser icon  add-on browser icon
  • Click Kodi Add-on repository
  • Click Program add-ons
  • Click Keymap Editor
  • Click Install
  • Wait till you see an Add-on installed message

How to remap a key

You can assign shortcuts to a wide range of actions, like opening a context menu, launching a specific add-on, minimizing Kodi, or even taking screenshots.

  • Go to the Kodi home page
  • Hover over Add-ons
  • Click Keymap Editor
  • In the Keymap Editor window, click Edit
  • Select a window to manage its shortcuts. Global works for all the windows, but you can assign different shortcuts for a specific window like Home
  • Select an action category
  • Select an action to assign to a key
  • Click Edit key
  • You will have five seconds to click on a key to assign an action to it
  • Go back to the Keymap Editor window and click Save

To return to the original keys’ mapping, click Reset to default in the Keymap Editor window.
