Prerequisite: Cross-Device Configuration
If you plan to use Stremio on a Fire TV Stick or Android TV, we strongly advise against configuring the addon directly on your TV. Inputting complex API keys using a TV remote is prone to errors and tedious.
Instead, perform the configuration on a Smartphone or Computer. Log in with the same Stremio account used on your TV. Once you complete the installation on your mobile or PC, the addon will automatically sync to your TV via the cloud, saving you time and frustration.
Configuration and Installation
Unlike official addons, Torrentio has a special configuration page where you can customize video quality and sorting before installing it.
- Open your browser and visit the Torrentio configuration page
- Providers: Leave all providers selected. This ensures the addon searches the widest possible range of sources to find links for your content
- Sorting: The best setting depends on your setup. If you are using Real Debrid, select By quality then size, as speed is guaranteed by the service, and you want to prioritize the highest bitrate. Otherwise, select By quality then seeders, as you need to prioritize files with enough seeders to ensure the video actually loads without buffering
- Priority foreign language: Leave this as None unless you specifically want to prioritize dubbed content in another language
- Exclude Qualities/resolutions: This section lets you hide unwanted qualities. We recommend checking the boxes for Cam and Screener. Checking these boxes will remove low-quality handheld recordings filmed inside movie theaters, ensuring you only see proper HD releases. If you have a slow internet connection, you can also check 4k to hide files that might be too large for your internet to handle
- Real Debrid Setup: If you use a Debrid service, select Real Debrid (or your specific provider) from the menu. Click the link that says Find it here to open your account, copy your API key, and paste it into the box. We recommend checking the box for Don’t show download to debrid links. It ensures you only see [RD+] links, which play instantly, while hiding links that would trigger a download instead of a stream. We also recommend checking Don’t show debrid catalog to keep your home screen library clean
- Click the Install button at the bottom of the page
- Your device will ask to open the Stremio App. Click Open, and when the popup appears inside Stremio, click the Install button
Verify Sync on TV
If you followed these steps on your phone or PC, go to your TV or FireStick now. The new addon may not appear instantly due to app caching. To ensure it shows up immediately, you must Force Stop the app to trigger a sync.
- Force Stop the app:
- On FireStick: Go to Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications > Stremio > Force Stop
- On Android TV: Open your device settings, go to Apps > Stremio > Force Stop
- Open Stremio: Launch the app again
